Bookbinding in London

Over the next few months I will spend time in the studio working on new collections for Folio Atelier. When it comes to bespoke bookbinding it is hard to anticipate what customers might want since the possibilities are endless and this is what I love about making books. Here I have decided to focus on a type of binding  that has been used for many centuries mainly in China, Japan and other Asian countries - what we call ‘Japanese binding’.  This method of binding solely relies on the sewing and doesn’t use any adhesives.
